“Well, I’ve been afraid of changin’ ‘Cause I’ve built my life around you.
But time makes you bolder, Even children get older, And I’m gettin’ older, too.”
~ Stevie Nicks, LANDSLIDE, 1975
We were listening to one of our favorite songs, “Landslide” by Stevie Nicks, and, as we were paying attention to the lyrics, it struck us how perfectly those words described this exact time in our lives. When she sings the above lyrics. Ooof …We both felt that to our core.
That’s where the name Landslide Moms comes from.
Life always presents us with challenges and changes, but this one in particular, for moms whose kids have moved out and moved on, we don’t really talk about the heartbreak and true grief that’s mixed right in with the joy, pride and excitement.
We’re often (always?) last on our own list of people to tend to, so we just silently grieve alone.
Let’s change that. This is a space where we, moms, who are going through our own personal landslides, can come together to hold space for each other, allow each other to feel all the feels, not push them down, and lift each other up.
Welcome to Landslide Moms!
Hi! We’re Jeni and Trish. We both have kids that have left home (and Trish still has one at home). We’ve talked about all of the joys and heartache of this season of life and realized, pretty quickly, that we are in no way alone or unique in our feelings. Then we also realized that there really aren’t any places for moms like us to come together to talk about the joy and the grief – all of it.
We’re great friends and moms, not therapists or anything like that, and we’ve also worked together professionally for almost seven years. We have years of experience in creating communities for people where they can feel heard and seen.
This stage of being a mom is hard. It’s too hard to go through alone, yet so many of us do just that. So we wanted to change that.
Welcome to Landslide Moms. ❤️
